After being involved in a terrible vehicle accident on December 30, 2022, while travelling from Roorkee to New Delhi, India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has expressed his gratitude to the two young people who helped save him. Pant referred to them as “heroes,” saying that he will always be grateful to them for saving him and helping him to recover from many operations.

Using the microblogging platform Twitter, Pant thanked the two young men, Rajat Kumar and Nishu Kumar, and said he would always be grateful to them. “I may not have been able to thank everyone individually, but I must acknowledge these two heroes who helped me during my accident and ensured I got to the hospital safely. Rajat Kumar & Nishu Kumar, Thank you. I’ll be forever grateful and indebted,” the 25-year-old’s post read.

The left-handed star batter also provided an update on his health, indicating that his recovery process has started, and thanked all of his supporters—including his fans and well-wishers—as well as the BCCI and its secretary, Jay Shah, for their help. “I am humbled and grateful for all the support and good wishes. I am glad to let you know that my surgery was a success. The road to recovery has begun and I am ready for the challenges ahead. Thanks to the @BCCI, @JayShah & government authorities for their incredible support.”

“From the bottom of my heart, I also would like to thank all my fans, teammates, doctors, and the physios for your kind words and encouragement. Looking forward to seeing you all on the field. #grateful #blessed,” added Pant in another tweet. Notably, Pant is predicted to miss the most of 2023 on the cricket field as well as several important tournaments, including the IPL. Pant, the captain of the Delhi Capitals, won’t be available for the start of the massive carnival in April.
