Umran Malik, a speedster, was one of the top wicket-takers in the just-completed ODI series against Sri Lanka. His outstanding performance over the past several weeks has sparked a nationwide search for additional speed batteries in India. Prasidh Krishna is one of a handful other pacers in the Indian Premier League who often exceed the 140 km/h barrier.

Irfan Pathan, a former Indian swing bowler, singled out Prasidh as one of India’s best white-ball cricket prospects during a Star Sports interview. Pathan praised the 26-year-old pacer’s outstanding talents and supported him as a potential wicket-taker for Team India in the future, provided he improves his condition. “Prasidh Krishan brings such tremendous ability, one is his pace, we have seen in One-Day cricket, how great bounce he derives out of the pitch. He bowls from near the stumps and swings the ball. He is quality and we have seen him in the IPL last year, touching 148 Kmph. If this guy stays fit consistently and bowls for you in white ball cricket, you’ll get a solid wicket taker,” said Pathan.

Prasidh has played in 51 IPL games so far, taking 49 wickets at an 8.92 economy rate. He took 19 wickets in 17 matches during the IPL 2022 season, which helped his side, the Rajasthan Royals (RR), finish second. He was the 10th greatest wicket taker overall. RR has decided to keep him on staff for the next 2023 campaign. The right-arm bowler has 25 wickets at an economy rate of 5.32 while representing his country in 14 ODI games. In August 2022, against the hosts Zimbabwe, he played his last game for the Men in Blue. That was almost five months ago. He has since fallen in the pecking order as a result of injuries.
