Naushad Khan, Sarfaraz Khan’s father, recalled how Sarfaraz made him feel good by telling him a touching line. In domestic cricket, Khan has been on the rise and has been amassing runs. He has established himself as a crucial batter for Mumbai and is an essential part of the Mumbai lineup for the current Ranji Trophy. He has been pounding on the door of the Indian Test team for some time, but he hasn’t received a call-up.

Khan has amassed over 500 runs at a superb average and has significantly contributed to Mumbai’s success in the Ranji Trophy this year. Sarafraz has amassed over 2000 runs in the last three Ranji trophy seasons. There is a lot of discussion about his inclusion in the Test team despite openings in his favoured position.

The batsman has so far shared the field with many great players, but his father related a story of a day when the Mumbai batter shared the field with Arjun, a Mumbai teammate who also happens to be the son of the renowned Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. Naushad stated that when Sarfaraz Khan went for junior games, he used to play and meet Arjun Tendulkar. One day, a young Sarfaraz came to his dad and said “Abbu, Arjun kitna naseeb wala haina? He has everything in life like cars, ipads, etc.” Naushad was helpless and didn’t say anything.

Khan then came back and gave his dad a tight hug and added that, “I am more fortunate than him because my dad gets to spend the whole day with me. Arjun’s father can’t spend enough time with him.” It’s interesting to note how close Sarfaraz and his father are because the child receives frequent advice from the latter before and during important matches.
