The experienced batsman Murali Vijay, who announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket on Monday, was congratulated by India captain Rohit Sharma. Vijay participated in 87 games for India and amassed 4490 runs. The opening hitter made the majority of his appearances in the Test format, playing for the national side in 61 games and tallying 3982 runs at an average of 38.29. Additionally, he played for India in 9 T20Is and 17 ODIs. Rohit sent the 38-year-old hitter his best wishes for the future via Twitter.
“Monka well done on your career bro had a great time watching you play some of your masterpieces, especially in Australia. Good luck ahead bro @mvj888,” tweeted Rohit.
Apart from Rohit, India batter Cheteshwar Pujara also tweeted, “Was a pleasure playing alongside you @mvj888. Congratulations on a fine career. Wishing you the best for all your future endeavors.”
“Well done monk @mvj888. Congratulations on a wonderful career and happy retirement” tweeted India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin.
Vijay reaffirmed his willingness to consider new chances in a touching tweet. After closing the “BCCI chapter,” Vijay is now searching for chances abroad. 2018’s Test match with Australia marked Vijay’s final appearance for India.
Vijay talked about the unsupportive attitude he experienced from the team management earlier this month, in particular when it came to treatment. If the team management had supported him as Sehwag was, Vijay stated he could have attempted a few other things. “Consciously, I didn’t get the freedom of Virender Sehwag to be honest. Whatever Sehwag got in his life, I didn’t. If I could have got that kind of backing and open-spread talks, I could have also tried. The honest thing is the team’s backing and how you can contribute to the team at the international level. It’s a high-level competition and you don’t have many chances to experiment in different ways,” Vijay had told WV Raman on Sportster.
