Day 3 of the third Test between Australia and India has begun, and the home team is attempting to defend a small goal of 76 runs. Usman Khawaja was bowled by Ravichandran Ashwin for a duck to give India the perfect start to Day 3 of the match. Khawaja, 36, contributed significantly to Australia’s success in the first innings by scoring 60 runs off 147 deliveries. The early removal of the left-handed batter gave India the perfect start.
The batter attempted to defend on the front foot as the ball twisted sharply, but it clipped the outside edge and fell safely into KS Bharat’s hands, giving Ashwin the opportunity to dismiss Khawaja. Khawaja did use a review, but it was in vain as Ultraedge confirmed his dismissal.
After Usman Khawaja’s early termination. No errors were made by Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head as they persistently attacked the Indian bowlers. Australia won the match by nine wickets while only losing one wicket. After Khawaja’s dismissal, Ravichandran Ashwin continued to torment the hitters, but the strain lessened as Labuschagne and Head took over control of the game. Both players contributed significant scores of 28 and 49 runs, respectively, as Australia made their much-anticipated series comeback.
India currently leads the series 2-1, so the hosts will be hoping that things change in their favor when the two teams square off in Ahmedabad for the fourth Test. On March 9, the fourth Test is set to start, and team India will attempt to hold onto the series lead and complete the sweep despite dropping the third game. The hosts just need one victory to lock up a spot in the World Test Championship championship game.
