Due to a thigh injury, England all-rounder Will Jacks will not be able to participate in the remaining Bangladesh trip. Both the T20I series against Bangladesh and the third one-day international will be missed by Jacks. On Monday, March 6, the third and final ODI will take place in Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. In the meantime, the teams’ T20I series will start on Thursday.
According to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the 24-year-old injured himself while fielding in the second ODI on Friday in Dhaka. In a few days, he’ll be returning to England to start his recovery. Jacks will probably be able to participate for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League, which starts on March 31, despite the injury. At the player auction in December 2022, he was acquired for INR 3.2 crore by the Faf du Plessis-led team. On April 2, RCB will face the five-time champion Mumbai Indians to begin their IPL 2023 season.
Regarding the ODI series, England won the opening game by a margin of three wickets. Tamim Iqbal, the captain of Bangladesh, elected to bat first after winning the toss. In 47.2 overs, the hosts scored 209/10 runs. When Bangladesh felt confident in winning the game, the Jos Buttler-led team slid to 65 for 4 and then 161 for 7 while attempting to reach the target of 210. Although batting third, Dawid Malan (114*) produced what is undoubtedly the best ODI performance of his career to lead England to victory.
The powerful England team defeated Bangladesh by a score of 132 runs in the second One Day International. England scored a massive 326 for 7 in their opening innings of play, with Jason Roy getting an ODI century. Sam Curran and Adil Rashid each took four wickets as they bowled out Bangladesh for 194, which they had come to chase down a massive target. The Three Lions will have a chance to complete a perfect series in the third ODI.
