Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, and Wriddhiman Saha are likely to be free from BCCI’s central contracts, according to recent sources. At the forthcoming Apex Council Meeting, a decision is expected to be made. Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Shubman Gill, on the other hand, are in line for promotions as a result of their noteworthy contributions to the club during the past year.
Pandya is anticipated to rise from Grade C to B in the central contract; analysts and pundits believe he might become India’s next T20I captain. The all-rounder would so make INR 3 crore annually, and Shubman Gill would equal that. Suryakumar Yadav’s elevation, meanwhile, will be up for debate as it’s possible that the 32-year-old can move up from Grade C to Grade A as a result of his outstanding performance in the recently finished T20 World Cup 2022.
“Surya was in Group C but his performance in the last one year warrants a promotion to Group B at least, if not A. He is currently world No. 1 in T20I ICC rankings and is a serious contender in ODI team also,” a senior official in know of the developments told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
The meeting will focus heavily on the present and future of Byju’s and MPL Sports, India’s two main sponsors. Additionally, according to reports, a subcommittee on infrastructure will be established, and five stadium upgrades will be explored. A one-time payment for V Jaydevan, whose rain-rule formula has been a revelation for India in the home circuit, will also be taken into consideration by the committee.
There are a total of 12 agenda items that must be covered throughout the conference. Even though India’s recent loss to Bangladesh isn’t one of them, it will be interesting to see if the chairwoman views it as a significant issue. Two days before the IPL mini-auction, on December 21, 2022, a video conference will be used for the crucial meeting.
