In the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar expressed his unhappiness with Ravindra Jadeja after the majority of his wicket-taking deliveries were ruled no-balls. Up to eight no balls have been delivered by Ravindra Jadeja in this series so far, with the most recent one coming on Day 1 of the third Test. The eighth no-ball cost India dearly because Marnus Labuschagne, the top-ranked Test hitter in the world, might have been the victim.
“This is not acceptable. He has a couple of man-of-the-match awards but a spinner bowling no balls. I think Paras Mhambrey has to sit down with him and make him bowl from behind. This could cost India,” the 73-year-old said while speaking on Star Sports. No-balls at such vital moments, according to the former India captain, are really bad for any team. Also, it can be highly discouraging for a bowler to take a wicket only to discover that it was a no-ball. One of the best Test batsmen currently might have been removed for a fee, but instead he was given a life and allowed to take advantage of his rare opportunity.
Gavaskar said that Ravindra Jadeja’s 34-year-old bowling instructor Paras Mhambrey needed to have a serious chat with him and concentrate on improving the 34-year-step old’s count before each delivery. Labuschagne was eventually dismissed by Jadeja on 31, but by that point, the batter had already given Australia the momentum they required to win.
After deciding to bat first, India didn’t have a fantastic performance as they were bowled out for just 109 runs. In only his second Test game, Matt Kuhnemann scored his first field goal. On the other side, Nathan Lyon added three wickets to his 500+ international wicket total.
