Usman Khawaja, the first-stringer for Australia, was unable to make it on Wednesday’s trip to India because of a visa issue. Khawaja, who is now anticipated to depart on Thursday for the high-profile four-Test series against India, did not travel with the Australia team. Khawaja posted a joke on social media saying, “Me waiting for my Indian visa like… #stranded #dontleaveme #standard #anytimenow.”

The Australian batsman, who is Pakistani, has participated in 56 Tests, 40 ODIs, and nine T20 matches. The 36-year-old participated in the 2016 IPL as well. He received the Shane Warne Award, which honors Australia’s Test Player of the Year, on Monday.

Before traveling to Nagpur for the first Test, which starts on February 9, Australia will hold a four-day training camp in the vicinity of Bengaluru. Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, and Delhi are the additional locations. Both groups have a chance to go to the World Test Championship final. Before the important series, Australia decided against playing a tour game in India because they thought the playing surfaces would be completely different from those of the four Test matches.
