Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, has voiced her enthusiasm to participate in the future Women’s IPL, which will begin in March, one month before the Men’s IPL. The BCCI has already paid Viacom 18 950 crores for the media rights to the WIPL. On January 25, the league’s five teams will be revealed following a closed bidding procedure. Team India captain Harmanpreet Kaur praised the BCCI’s efforts as tournament preparations were in full flow.

“Many girls all over the world will play. Because the opportunity that the next generation will get that is something many old cricketers have missed,” the 33-year-old said while speaking ahead of the of the T20 tri-series opener against South Africa as quoted by the Circle of Cricket.

Kaur continued by saying, “Everyone is happy about this and we are waiting for it to start. Personally, for me, it will be a big achievement to participate in that. There can be no bigger achievement for women’s cricket than this. This is a big step and all women cricketers were waiting for this opportunity for a long time. And finally the time has come. The amount of response we are getting from everyone is outstanding. That was the reason we wanted to express our feelings on social media,” the power-hitter concluded.
