In the next white-ball series beginning on March 1, England is eager to take against Bangladesh on their slow wickets. In March, the two white-ball world champions will play a three-match ODI series and an equal number of T20I matches in the nation.
The goal of defending England’s World Cup title in India, which begins in October, will not be easy, but skipper Jos Buttler is eager to play on Bangladesh’s fields while bearing in mind the major competition. “These are the conditions that would probably be the closest we can get to play in India. That’s the kind of challenge we want as a team to test ourselves in tough conditions,” Buttler was quoted as saying by News18.
The tour will start on March 1 and 3 with two one-day internationals at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, and on March 6 the third and final game will take place at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The next matchup between the two teams will be a three-match T20I series, with the first game taking place on March 9 in Chattogram and the next two on March 12 and 14 in Dhaka.
Since 2015, only Jos Buttler’s team has triumphed over Bangladesh at home in an ODI series. In a three-match series in October 2016, they triumphed by a score of 2-1. “That’s long time ago,” Buttler said on England’s win in their last ODI series in 2016 when Bangladesh also registered their maiden Test victory against the visitors.
“Bangladesh have a good record at home. We have some very good players in our team. We are excited for the challenge. We have a lot of guys in the last few years exposed to playing in sub-continent conditions,” he added.
