In the Ranji Trophy on Wednesday, talented young cricketer Prithvi Shaw blasted a triple century (379 off 383 balls). He contributed to Mumbai’s 687/4 total against Assam in the first innings. With his quickfire 379 runs, the right-handed batter has now amassed the second-highest total in Ranji Trophy history, trailing only BB Nimbalkar’s undefeated 443 runs while representing Maharashtra versus Saurashtra in 1948. Ajinkya Rahane, the skipper of Mumbai, also significantly boosted the score with a brilliant 191 off 302 balls.
Shaw has recently been playing well enough with the bat to rejoin the national team. He has scored a lot of runs in domestic cricket since playing the final game for Team India in July 2021. The second-highest Ranji Trophy score ever was scored by him on Wednesday, and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah praised him for it on Twitter.
“Another entry into the record books! What an extraordinary inning @PrithviShaw! Congratulations on hitting the second-highest Ranji Trophy score of all time. A talent with immense potential. Super proud! @BCCIdomestic,” posted Shah. Shaw thanked the BCCI secretary for his appreciation and replied “Thank you so much @JayShah sir. Your words of encouragement means a lot. Will keep working hard.”
