A four-match Test series between India and Australia will begin on Thursday at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Although there are many intriguing matchups, the conflict between Ravichandran Ashwin and Marnus Labuschagne may determine how the series pans out. Ashwin, who was among the best players during India’s victories in both of its Test series in Australia, is predicted to make life difficult for the Australian batsmen.

Prior to this, Labuschagne had compared playing Ashwin to a ” lovely game of chess.” Labuschagne tweeted that he “can’t wait” to take on the experienced Indian bowler in response to Rajasthan Royals.

Despite finishing with 426 runs at an average of 53.25 in the 2020–21 Border–Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, Labuschagne was twice removed by Ashwin. After meeting the seasoned off-spinner last month, Labuschagne had lauded Ashwin and stated that he had made an effort to change his approach to the game.

“I’ve changed some of my game because of what I’ve heard about Ashwin and how he bowled to me,” Labuschagne was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. “I’ve adapted my game to try and foil a few of his ideas and ways he goes about it. It’s going to be a lovely game of chess and I can’t wait for it.” The 28-year-old said he started his preparation for the India tour right after the 2020-21 home series. Australia has gone above and beyond to defend against the threat that R Ashwin poses. Fans reacted in droves when they saw the foreigners practise in the nets against Ashwin’s “clone.”
