On Sunday, England made history by holding both the 20-over and 50-over Cricket World Cups simultaneously. After defeating Pakistan in a suspenseful T20 World Cup final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Jos Buttler-led team accomplished the feat. Wasim Akram, a renowned fast bowler, pointed out a few errors the Pakistani team made in the final after the outcome. Although the team put up a good fight, Akram believed the batting strategy needed improvement. Additionally, he identified a few captaincy errors that helped England win the match.

“A total 137 was never going to be enough on this track. We made so many mistakes in batting. In the end, we fought well. Shaheen’s injury did have an impact as he did not bowl two overs. Some captaincy issues were there in between, especially when Moeen Ali came out to bat. I think they Iftikhar should’ve bowled an over there,” Akram said on A Sports. Ben Stokes and Sam Curran shone in the championship match as England defeated Pakistan by five wickets.

In front of an enthusiastic 80,462 spectators at the MCG, Jos Buttler’s team restricted Pakistan to 137-8, with player-of-the-match and tournament Curran grabbing 3/12 and Adil Rashid chipping in with 2/22. In response, England struggled to establish any momentum against a fierce pace attack and fell to 49-3 in the sixth over. Boundaries were also difficult to come by. However, Stokes (52 not out) and Moeen Ali (19) led England to victory with six balls remaining thanks to their wisdom and composure.
