Wasim Akram, a renowned Pakistani pacer, recently shared a touching story about his late wife Huma, who died in 2009 at the age of 42 from issues with her heart and kidneys. The former Pakistan captain revealed a heartbreaking incident from the time he was taking his wife for treatment during a discussion on his autobiography “Sultan: A Memoir” According to Akram, he was taking an air ambulance from Lahore to Singapore so that his wife might receive treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital. But, the ambulance made a scheduled replenishing stop at the Chennai airport.

When discussing the unfortunate situation, the illustrious player admitted that when they arrived in Chennai, he did not have an Indian visa. The 56-year-old went on to say that he got assistance from Chennai officials. “I was flying to Singapore with my late wife and there was a stop in Chennai for refueling. When we landed, she was unconscious, I was crying and people recognized me at the airport. We didn’t have an Indian visa. We both had Pakistani passports,” Akram told Sportstar.

“The people at the Chennai airport, the security forces, and the customs and immigration officials told me not to worry about the visa and take my wife to the hospital while they sort the visa out. That is something I will never forget, as a cricketer and as a human being,” Akram added.
